The Department of Defence (Defence) must comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988, which govern the handling of personal (including sensitive)information. The following privacy statement is provided in accordance with APP 5and applies to any personal information you provide in the online web page registration process. Purpose of collecting personal information

The personal information collected in this form will be used by Defence for the purposes of:

  • Ascertaining your eligibility to utilize theAlbury Wodonga Military Area (AWMA) Hire Store, and
  • Management and administration of requests to hire Defence assets from the AWMA Hire Store.This information mayinclude:
  • Full Name,
  • Contact Details,
  • Connection to Defence,
  • Items you have hired,
  • Frequency of hires.

 

Your personal information may also be used by Defence for the purposes of:

  • Responding to your enquiries or requests
  • Providing you with the equipment you wish to hire
  • Internal accounting and administration in relation to your hire
  • To protect the hirer and the AWMA Hire store from fraud
  • Analytic or evaluation purposes

Consequences if personal information is not collected

Should you not wish to provide the personal information required, Defence may be unable to provide you with access to the AWMA Hire Store and/or the requested hire item.  However, it is voluntary for you to be involved in the process and you can choose to not provide any personal information.

Disclosure of personal information to other entities

Defence may disclose personal information about you to Aussie I.T for the purpose of maintaining the functionality of the WEB Page.

Defence will not use or disclose your personal information other than for the purposes specified above, unless required or authorized by law, or if you provide your consent. This may include disclosure to external agencies with legitimate reasons for requiring information, including law enforcement agencies, courts, coroners, and external complaint bodies (such as the Commonwealth Ombudsman and Australian Human Rights Commission).

Further information

Any information you provide will be stored securely in accordance with the Defence Privacy Policy. Only Defence officials with a need to know the material for the purposes listed above or management of Defence’s records will be able to access your personal information.
